Baseball Game Preview: Hampton Crabbers vs. Kecoughtan Warriors

For the second straight game, Hampton will face off against Kecoughtan. The Crabbers will head out on the road to challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hampton has five straight wins, Kecoughtan has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Hampton beat Kecoughtan 6-2.

Toby Weymouth made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Green, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. CJ Williams also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Kecoughtan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Hampton, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
