Basketball Recap: Burgin Takes a Loss

Burgin made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Mercer County, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Titans by a score of 63-61 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (60), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Burgin dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mercer County, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-10.

Burgin and Mercer County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Bulldogs (ranked 252nd) will meet Somerset (ranked 100th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mercer County will challenge Ballard at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (232 vs. 32).
