Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Takes a Loss

Notre Dame Prep played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 88-40 loss at the hands of the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Irish can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 23rd).

Notre Dame Prep's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Emily Teolis, who posted 15 points, and Kaylyn Sowers, who scored 17 points. That was a full 42.5% of Notre Dame Prep's points, marking the sixth time in a row Sowers has put up more than a third of the team's points.

Notre Dame Prep's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Detroit Country Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 19-5 record this season.

Notre Dame Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Detroit Country Day, they will take on Regina at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Regina sitting on seven straight wins and Detroit Country Day on six.
