Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Park Lions vs. Saint Ignatius College Prep Wolfpack

Lincoln Park is 0-3 against Saint Ignatius College Prep since April of 2019 but things could change on Monday. The Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. Lincoln Park has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Saturday, Lincoln Park and Payton College Prep finished up on equal footing with a 14-14 tie.

Meanwhile, Saint Ignatius College Prep hadn't done well against Resurrection recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolfpack were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Bandits. Considering the Wolfpack have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Saint Ignatius College Prep let Molly Milanowski and Eliana Romero run wild. Milanowski got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI, while Romero went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Romero has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachael Dombrowski, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Saint Ignatius College Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .515. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Saint Ignatius College Prep and bumps their season record up to 13-17. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. Lincoln Park's draw gives them a new season record of 8-9-1.

Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln Park hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Saint Ignatius College Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lincoln Park might still be hurting after the 18-8 loss they got from Saint Ignatius College Prep when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
