Recap: Bertrand Vikings vs. Southern Valley Eagles
The Bertrand Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The New Year welcomed they with a 54-12 whooping from Southern Valley. Bertrand has not had much luck with Southern Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Shelby Schoene was Bertrand's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Bertrand bumped their record down to 3-6 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.0 points per game. As for Southern Valley, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Bertrand will be playing at home against South Loup on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nebraska (South Loup is ranked 210th, while Bertrand is ranked 192nd). As for Southern Valley, they will face off against Centennial at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
