Soccer Recap: St. Mary's Comes Up Short

If St. Mary was riding high fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Ellicott on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell just short of the Banning Lewis Academy Stallions by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The match was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but St. Mary's couldn't quite close it out.

Kylie Borg and Shane Carter scored all three of St. Mary's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 29 goals.

St. Mary's has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season. As for Banning Lewis Academy, they moved to 5-8-1 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. St. Mary's is set to take on their familiar foe Colorado Springs Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Banning Lewis Academy will challenge rival Salida at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
