Basketball Recap: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Enloe Eagles
Wake Forest had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it nine. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Enloe Eagles. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.
Despite the loss, Wake Forest still got an impressive performance from Scotty Jones, who posted 15 points. Kaleb Jones also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.
As for Enloe, they now have a winning record of 3-2. Those 48 points were actually the fewest they have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Enloe can attribute much of their success to Preston Williams, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in steals (five). Gianni McIntire was another key player, going 5-for-9 to rack up 10 points.
Coming up, Wake Forest will take on Wake Prep Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Guardians have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Enloe, they will square off against Knightdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
