Recap: Schaeffer Academy Lions vs. Fillmore Central Falcons
The Schaeffer Academy Lions lost against the Fillmore Central Falcons back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Schaeffer Academy suffered a tough 63-39 loss at the hands of Fillmore Central. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Schaeffer Academy in their matchups with Fillmore Central: they've now lost five in a row.
Schaeffer Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lillian Morrisey, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and eight blocks. Those eight blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Linnea Ekbom was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Schaeffer Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Fillmore Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schaeffer Academy will challenge Kenyon-Wanamingo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Minnesota (Kenyon-Wanamingo is ranked 289th, while Schaeffer Academy is ranked 296th). As for Fillmore Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Lewiston-Altura at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lewiston-Altura is on a four-game streak of home losses, Fillmore Central a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
