Softball Recap: Liberty Picks Up Tenth Consecutive Victory

Liberty entered their tilt with Freedom on Thursday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 10-0 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 1, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Kate Skinner tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Taylor Jennings was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Savannah Page was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Liberty hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in five consecutive contests.

Liberty pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Freedom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9-1.

Liberty and Freedom should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Lions will take on Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (80 vs. 344). Meanwhile, Freedom (ranked 325th) will meet Deer Valley (ranked 1071st) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
