Basketball Recap: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Hamilton Heights Huskies
Tipton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 57-24 loss at the hands of the Hamilton Heights Huskies. The Blue Devils lost against the Huskies in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 103-6 score last time.
Mackenzie Farinella was Tipton's leading scorer, having posted 14 points. Madeline Ridgeway held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Makayla Schinlaub took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Hamilton Heights was led to victory by Presley Cherry and Katie Brown. Cherry posted 16 points and four steals, while Brown scored 14 points. Those 16 points gave Cherry a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abi Hilfiker, who went 5 of 10 on her way to 10 points and three steals.
Tipton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Hamilton Heights, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-14.
Tipton will square off against Kokomo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kokomo is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season. As for Hamilton Heights, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th.
