Football Recap: Canon City Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Canon City unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 44-27 bruising from the Resurrection Christian Cougars on Saturday. The Tigers gained 57 more yards on the day, but it was the Cougars that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Canon City lost, don't look at Gavin Reddick. Despite the final result, he rushed for 92 yards and one score on only eight carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Jake Adamic helped out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Resurrection Christian had a senior duo take command as Britton Walston rushed for 168 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.3 yards per carry and Jaxson Pszanka gained 121 total yards and three touchdowns. Jackson Lucas was another key player, throwing for 189 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes.

Canon City didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 26-16 defeat against Eagle Valley on the 5th. As for Resurrection Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Palisade at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
