Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Comes Up Short

Pleasant Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Oak Grove Tigers, falling 23-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-3 back in March.

Pleasant Grove saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaliyah Eldridge, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Eldridge is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 13 games she's played.

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Oak Grove, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 20-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will challenge Oakman at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.61 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oak Grove, they will head out to face off against Hueytown at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Gophers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
