Volleyball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Comes Up Short

Sunrise Mountain came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Legacy Longhorns. The Miners haven't had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

While Sunrise Mountain ultimately came up short, they really made Legacy work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-17, 25-23.

When it comes to explaining why Sunrise Mountain lost, don't look at Christian Nevarez. Despite the final result, he had 17 digs and one assist. Nevarez has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times he's played. Angel Torres was another key player, getting ten assists and eight digs.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Legacy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Sunrise Mountain will welcome Durango at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, Legacy and Southeast Career Tech will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
