Baseball Recap: Taylor Takes a Loss

Taylor extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 18 on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 0-17 in the process. They lost 17-4 to the Sheridan Blackhawks. The Titans were not able to make up for their loss to the Blackhawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Taylor saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Trueblood, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Caleb Santiago also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Sheridan, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games.

On Sheridan's side, Jack Oland made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Oland a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, earning two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Sheridan: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Sheridan got a massive performance out of Braelan Bochner, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Bochner a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Hall, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Taylor and Sheridan will both be playing Delphi Community the next time they take the field. The Blackhawks will host the Oracles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Titans will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
