Volleyball Recap: Fatima Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Fatima waltzed into their match on Wednesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Owensville Dutchmen by a score of 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Comets also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Fatima walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-17, 15-25, 25-18.

Alayna Backes paced Fatima's offense, picking up 18 kills. Backes got some help from Lily Kempker and her 32 assists. Kempker was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Despite the loss, Owensville still got an impressive performance from Jenna Hoffmann, who had 15 digs and one assist. Clara Julius was another key player, getting 11 digs and three assists.

Fatima's win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Owensville, they moved to 10-5-1 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Fatima will look to defend their home court on Monday against Springfield Catholic at 6:00 p.m. As for Owensville, they have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against St. James on the 18th.
