Baseball Recap: Discovery Canyon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Coronado

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Discovery Canyon). They put the hurt on the Coronado Cougars with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Eoin Adams looked comfortable as he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Discovery Canyon got a massive performance out of Tristan Propes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was Propes' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cole Teltschik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.

Discovery Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Discovery Canyon pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Coronado, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will take on Littleton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery Canyon's pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so Littleton's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Coronado, they will challenge Rampart at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
