Football Recap: Newport Central Catholic Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Newport Central Catholic had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 47-14 loss at the hands of the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts. The Thoroughbreds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Juggernauts apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Lloyd Memorial got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was KALEB EVANS out in front who threw for 131 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. MARJA PETERSON got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Coming up, Newport Central Catholic will host Beechwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lloyd Memorial, they are taking a road trip to face off against Newport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
