Basketball Recap: Randle Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Randle extended their home winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Alaysia Cook. The Randle Lions walked away with a 34-21 victory over the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs on Friday thanks in part to Cook, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 20 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The matchup was her seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kurynn McNeill, who posted six points along with 13 boards and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Randle's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is 8-4 (and 3-8 when she doesn't).

Lamar Consolidated's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylani Nichols, who had 16 points and four steals, and Praisegod Chinweuba, who posted three points and eight rebounds. That's the most steals Nichols has posted since back in November of 2024.

Randle's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Lamar Consolidated, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

Randle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-31 victory against Fort Bend Kempner on the 7th. As for Lamar Consolidated, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-51 defeat against Victoria East on the 7th.
