Soccer Recap: Maine West Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Maine West was not quite Maine East's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Blue Demons by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Maine West came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Maine East are ranked 205th).

Maine West's goal came courtesy of Bryan Garcia, which was the first he's scored this season.

With the loss, Maine West broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 6-4-2. As for Maine East, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maine West will challenge Lincoln Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Maine East, they will square off against Leyden at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leyden will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Maine East surely won't give up without a fight.
