Basketball Recap: Dickinson Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Dickinson extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 9-3. They came out on top against the La Porte Bulldogs by a score of 82-71. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 154th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dickinson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from TroyNelle Belle, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Belle's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Caleb Lopez was another key player, going 8-for-12 en route to 23 points.

As for La Porte, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), they still had to take the loss.

La Porte's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gotti Mack, who shot 70% from the field on his way to 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Mack has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Fletcher Neely, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc to rack up 23 points.

Coming up, Dickinson will face off against Bridgeland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for La Porte, they will take on South Oak Cliff in a tournament on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.91 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
