Baseball Recap: ABF Academy Comes Up Short

ABF Academy saw some tournament action on Thursday. They came up short against the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks, falling 11-1. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

ABF Academy got a good showing from Ariel Rivera, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Rivera has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brandon Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy (ranked 108th) will meet True North Classical Academy (ranked 33rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
