Softball Recap: Bangor Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Bangor ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over the Mt. Blue Cougars. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Emma Tripp and Kaylee Folsom made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Tripp tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Folsom pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Tripp has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Tripp went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Folsom went 1-for-4 with three runs.

In other batting news, Abby Folsom was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Pierce, who earned three RBI and one run.

Bangor is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Mt. Blue, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bangor will host Hampden at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Broncos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Blue, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Ararat at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
