Softball Recap: Commerce Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Commerce's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Ector Eagles. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Charley Lytle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cayelin Crow, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Walden, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Commerce's record now sits at 5-11-1. As for Ector, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Commerce will venture away from home to challenge Chisum at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ector, they are taking a road trip to take on Honey Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Honey Grove will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Ector surely won't give up without a fight.
