Basketball Game Preview: Memphis Cyclones vs. Wellington Skyrockets

Memphis hasn't had much luck against Wellington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Memphis Cyclones will face off against the Wellington Skyrockets at 6:15 p.m.

Memphis is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They took a 44-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Quanah. While losing is never fun, the Cyclones can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 998th, while the Indians are ranked 463rd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellington). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Highland Park 77-19. The Skyrockets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

The victory (which was Wellington's third in a row) raised their record to 15-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.7 points per game. As for Memphis, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Memphis took a serious blow against Wellington when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 62-15. Can Memphis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
