Softball Recap: Guilderland Flying Dutchmen vs. Bethlehem Central Eagles
Guilderland had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-9 to make it four. They fell 8-3 to the Bethlehem Central Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-4 back in April.
Lydia Santabarbara was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. Hallie Czajka was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As for Bethlehem Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.
On Bethlehem Central's side, Lyla Hanlon made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Hanlon has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
