Cedar Creek falls despite big games from Connor Johnson and Jake Doan

Recap: Cedar Creek Cougars vs. Lincoln Prep Panthers

The Cedar Creek Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 73-41 loss at the hands of Lincoln Prep. Cedar Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-18.

Despite the loss, Cedar Creek had strong showings from Jake Doan, who scored 14 points along with six steals, and Connor Johnson, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Doan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Jack Bell was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Cedar Creek struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lincoln Prep posted 22 assists.

Lincoln Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Burks, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Burks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Amarjae Young, who scored 21 points along with seven steals.

Cedar Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. As for Lincoln Prep, the win was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Creek will challenge Castor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Creek is coming into the matchup with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Castor will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Lincoln Prep, they will square off against Ouachita Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Ouachita Christian likes a good challenge.
