Volleyball Recap: Malden Comes Up Short

Malden suffered their biggest loss since May 31, 2024 on Friday. They lost 3-0 to the Woburn Memorial Tanners. The game marked the first time this year in which the Golden Tornados were not able to get on the board.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 25-16.

Woburn Memorial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mateo Qirjazi, who had three digs and one block. Qirjazi has been hot for a while, having also posted 17 or more assists the last 15 times he's played. Rohan Patel was another key player, getting 16 digs.

Malden has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season. As for Woburn Memorial, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7.

Malden has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Lynn English on the 19th. As for Woburn Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Burlington on the 19th.
