Softball Recap: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars
Riverdale Ridge extended their postseason success on Saturday against Cherokee Trail. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Cherokee Trail Cougars. The Ravens are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 20 straight.
Mady Ortiz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a double.
In other batting news, Jaeanna Sandoval was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Zoie Linville, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Riverdale Ridge's record now sits at 25-4. As for Cherokee Trail, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 24-5 record.
