Basketball Recap: Jones County Comes Up Short

Jones County lost against Eagle's Landing back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Jones County Greyhounds took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagle's Landing Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Eagles are ranked 71st).

It was another big night for Tyson Moore, who went 8 for 15 en route to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals for Eagle's Landing. With that strong performance, Moore is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Aaron Reives, who posted seven points.

Jones County has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.8 points per game. As for Eagle's Landing, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jones County will welcome Locust Grove at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Locust Grove will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Jones County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eagle's Landing, they will be playing at home against Ola at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ola is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.9 points per game this season.
