Softball Recap: West Blocton Beats Jackson for Their Third Straight Win

West Blocton entered their tilt with Jackson on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Aggies 16-1. Considering the Tigers have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Raylin Irvin looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mafynli Kidd, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Jacey Register was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

West Blocton pushed their record up to 16-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-6.

West Blocton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Northside on the 5th. As for Jackson, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 victory against West Morgan on the 5th.
