Softball Recap: Cox Mill Comes Up Short

After flying high against Olympic on Thursday, Cox Mill came back down to earth. The Chargers lost 13-1 to the Hickory Ridge Bulls on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 back in March.

Cox Mill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Barnhill, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Barnhill is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

Cox Mill's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hickory Ridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Cox Mill will head out on the road to take on Mount Pleasant at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hickory Ridge, they will be playing at home against Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
