Football Recap: Sesser-Valier/Waltonville Comes Up Short

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville and Greenfield/Northwestern squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Sesser-Valier/Waltonville had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Tigers, falling 42-14. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Tigers are ranked 130th).

This is the second loss in a row for Sesser-Valier/Waltonville and nudges their season record down to 6-4. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Sesser-Valier/Waltonville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Greenfield/Northwestern, they will take on Calhoun/Brussels at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 5.4 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
