Turner is 0-4 against Lone Star since March of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Turner Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Lone Star Rangers at 12:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Turner managed to slip by Creekview the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Turner lost 14-0 to Creekview on Friday. The game marked the first time this year in which the Lions were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Lone Star has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 4.06 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 14-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Reedy. The Rangers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Makala Wallace and Brooke Wooten stepped up to the plate in a big way. Wallace scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Wooten fired off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. What's more, Wallace posted two home runs, the most she's had since back in February. Serenity Smith was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Lone Star lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Lone Star's defeat dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Turner, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
Lone Star's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Turner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lone Star, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Turner keep running through batters, or will Lone Star buck the trend?
Turner might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Lone Star in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Turner avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
