Softball Recap: South Newton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for South Newton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the Faith Christian Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with an 11-2 victory. With that win, the Rebels brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Briley Iseminger made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Faye Springsteen was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lizzie Corbett, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

South Newton pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Faith Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, South Newton will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Twin Lakes at 5:30 p.m. The Rebels will need to watch out since the Indians have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Faith Christian, they will venture away from home to face off against North Montgomery at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
