Basketball Game Preview: Tanner Rattlers vs. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles

The Tanner Rattlers will face off against the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Tanner: they have been struggling with 13 straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Decatur Heritage Christian Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 60-33, which was the final score in Tanner's tilt against Wilson on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Warriors are ranked 59th).

Meanwhile, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy beat Jasper 40-29 on Monday. The 40-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Tanner better focus on containing Emma Eastman and Genie Mcghee as the pair were huge in Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's win. Eastman posted 13 points, while Mcghee had seven points along with seven boards and three steals. Mcghee has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 27 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Leslie Hames, who earned eight points and three steals.

Decatur Heritage Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.3 points. As for Tanner, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Tanner was taken down by Decatur Heritage Christian Academy 78-19 in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tanner was down 48-9.
