Baseball Recap: University Takes a Loss

University fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Northwood on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Timberwolves by a score of 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Trojans in their meetings with the Timberwolves: they've now lost six in a row.

Andrew Shean spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, University saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Haun, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Another was Sean Maher, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

University's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Northwood, their victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-15.

Coming up, University will host Foothill Tech at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Northwood, they will head out to challenge Sage Hill at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lightning's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Timberwolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
