Baseball Recap: Jefferson Comes Up Short

Jefferson fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Hughes Springs on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Adam Boehler was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Kobin Tomlinson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tihmyus Taylor, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 2-12-1. As for Hughes Springs, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will venture away from home to face off against Harmony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hughes Springs, they will head out to take on New Diana at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Diana will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hughes Springs surely won't give up without a fight.
