If Coal Ridge wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Basalt, they should've done a better job of containing Will Tarallo. The Longhorns walked away with a 37-25 win over the Titans on Thursday with plenty of help from Tarallo, who rushed for 246 yards and three scores while picking up 15.4 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 103.6 rushing yards per game.

Basalt didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Karson Schneider and Parker Sims. Basalt received some extra help from Brooks Ragan, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Despite the loss, Coal Ridge still got an impressive performance from Angel Hernandez, who rushed for 108 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. Hernandez's longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Basalt now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Coal Ridge, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2.

Coming up, Basalt is taking a road trip to face off against Moffat County at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Longhorns will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Coal Ridge, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Aspen at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
