Softball Recap: Middletown Triumphs

Eight must be Middletown's lucky number: they beat Monroe-Woodbury with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Middie Bears walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Crusaders. The Middie Bears haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Bethannie French spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 13 hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Keira Stroud was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Platero, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Middletown's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Monroe-Woodbury, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will venture away from home to face off against Kingston at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monroe-Woodbury, they will head out to take on Ketcham at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
