Moriah hasn't had much luck against Peru recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Vikings will take on the Nighthawks at 4:30 p.m. Moriah is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Moriah was handed a 13-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Chazy. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Joe Pelkey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Joey Kazlo, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Moriah's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Cooper Allen also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Peru strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Northern Adirondack a 15-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kalib Smith was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Matt Trombley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBI.
Peru was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northern Adirondack only posted a batting average of .160.
The victory got Moriah back to even at 3-3. As for Peru, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Moriah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Peru struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Moriah suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Peru in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
