Softball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Brooklyn Narbut and Marissa Anderson Lead Powhatan to Victory

Powhatan barely beat Richmond High School for the Arts the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs an 18-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Indians have won six games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Marissa Anderson and Brooklyn Narbut made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Anderson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Narbut struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. At bat, Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Narbut went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave Anderson a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cassidy Moser was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Harper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Powhatan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .960. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Powhatan's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Powhatan will be playing at home against Manchester at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Richmond High School for the Arts, they will head out to challenge Armstrong at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
