Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Dieterich Movin Maroons
Martinsville and Dieterich are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Martinsville Bluestreaks will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 12:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Martinsville has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Dieterich will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Saturday, Martinsville was beaten by Fisher 56-24. Martinsville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-11.
Even though Dieterich has not done well against North Clay/Clay City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Dieterich snuck past North Clay/Clay City with a 44-38 win. 44 seems to be a good number for Dieterich as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dieterich to victory, but perhaps none more so than Miley Britton, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The game was Britton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Brittney Niemerg was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 3 steals.
The losses dropped Martinsville to 0-6 and Fisher to 5-5.
Martinsville was taken down by Dieterich 47-17 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will Martinsville have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
