Baseball Recap: Pine Valley Central Comes Up Short

If Pine Valley Central was riding high fresh off their 21-6 takedown of Cattaraugus-Little Valley on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the Westfield Wolverines by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Wolverines: they've now lost six in a row.

Pine Valley Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominick Austin, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Cole Wood also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Pine Valley Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Westfield will square off against Maple Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pine Valley Central will be paying especially close attention to the Wolverines' matchup: after the Wolverines face off against the Red Dragons, they'll take on Pine Valley Central again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
