Basketball Preview: Klein Oak Panthers vs. Tomball Memorial Wildcats
The Klein Oak Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Tomball Memorial Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Klein Oak has four straight victories, the Wildcats have four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Klein Oak stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 49-27 margin over Waller. Given Klein Oak's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1018th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Klein Oak to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jada Singleton zenon, who scored eight points along with two steals. Maci Mote was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Tomball Memorial came up short against the Bearkats on Tuesday and fell 47-36.
Tomball Memorial's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Averie Aranda, who scored ten points, and Skylar Kearns who scored nine points. Aranda is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for four games straight.
Klein Oak is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-6 record this season. As for Tomball Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 14-19.
Klein Oak beat the Wildcats 61-48 in their previous matchup back in January. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Tomball Memorial's Dasia Hyams, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
