Soccer Game Preview: Thomas MacLaren School vs. Manitou Springs

The Thomas MacLaren School Highlanders will venture away from home to face off against the Manitou Springs Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Thomas MacLaren School fell victim to Buena Vista and their airtight defense on Saturday. They came up short against the Demons, falling 7-0. Thomas MacLaren School have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Manitou Springs came tearing into Thursday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Gryphons a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Manitou Springs, who have now won three games by ten goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Atlas Preparatory School from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Brooklynn Sheffield led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Manitou Springs pushed their record up to 5-1-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Thomas MacLaren School, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Thomas MacLaren School might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Manitou Springs when the teams last played back in March of 2022. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Highlanders were down 8-0.
