Basketball Game Preview: Westlake Thunder vs. Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs

The Westlake Thunder will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Westlake has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, the stars were shining brightly for Westlake in a 65-50 win over Mountain Ridge. With that victory, the Thunder brought their scoring average up to 51.4 points per game.

Ella Seymore went supernova for Westlake, going 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Seymore a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Thompson, who went 7 of 9 on her way to 13 points and six assists.

Westlake was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Judge Memorial Catholic played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Pine View, falling 52-32. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Westlake pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Judge Memorial Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Westlake didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Judge Memorial Catholic in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Judge Memorial Catholic's Elyah Ocampo, who went 8 for 19 on her way to 23 points. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Westlake still be able to contain Ocampo? There's only one way to find out.
