Baseball Game Preview: Corning Cardinals vs. Los Molinos Bulldogs

The Corning Cardinals will take on the Los Molinos Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Corning needed a bit of extra time to put away Willows. They had just enough and edged out the Honkers 9-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Brandon Cordova made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Casey Long, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Bruno Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Los Molinos never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Live Oak 23-0. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Corning's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Los Molinos, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Corning skirted past Los Molinos 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Corning have another victory up their sleeve, or will Los Molinos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
