Basketball Recap: Savion Mitchell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Panther Creek over Apex Friendship

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Panther Creek can now relate to. They lost to the Apex Friendship Patriots at home by a 65-50 margin on Friday. The Catamounts were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 37-35.

Panther Creek's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savion Mitchell, who posted seven points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. Those four blocks gave Mitchell a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Andre Richardson, who scored 16 points.

Panther Creek's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Apex Friendship, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.

Panther Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Apex Friendship, they are taking a road trip to take on Garner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex Friendship knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Garner likes a good challenge.
