Baseball Game Preview: Granbury Pirates vs. Brewer Bears

For the second straight game, Granbury will face off against Brewer. The Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Granbury will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Granbury and Brewer meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Pirates put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Hudson Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Granbury let Derek Marquardt and Easton Bleeker run wild. Marquardt went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Bleeker scored two runs while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Bleeker has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jackson Arnett, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Granbury hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.

Granbury pushed their record up to 15-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Brewer, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-7.

Brewer's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Granbury hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334.
