League recap: ERWIN breaks off league-leading run for Mechanicsburg

Mechanicsburg's Aeryton ERWIN rumbled for the longest rushing play in Ohio Heritage this season in his game against Catholic Central last week. ERWIN's team defeated the Irish as he sprinted for 69 yards on the play and finished with 210 in all.

Northeastern moved up to 490 from 519 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Jets were able to make move up by topping Greeneview 35-21.

Mechanicsburg's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Colin VERNON has thrown for 1290 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, while Brandon PURK has 46 catches for 877 yards. ERWIN leads the league in rushing with 954 yards.

Mechanicsburg's ERWIN is a mere 46 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when West Liberty-Salem takes on Triad. The Tigers have allowed 139 points this season, while the Cardinals have given up 113.

West Liberty-Salem extended the longest winning streak in Ohio Heritage this week by beating Cedarville, 63-28. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
